John Hunt
Security Expert (Healthcare)
Currently, Mr. Hunt serves as the Corporate Director of Security and Emergency Management for AtlantiCare. The Corporate Director of Security and Emergency Management plans, directs, supervises and coordinates the activities of the Emergency Mgt. and Security Department for AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center. The position oversees the function of security management and emergency management of the AtlantiCare System, which includes 3 hospitals and over 120 facilities. The position assesses the organization’s compliance with the related regulatory agencies and directs the development of goals and objectives, policies and procedures related to safety and security of the organization. The Director also monitors emergency management and security related activities to assure maximum utilization of resources and selects, supervises, trains and evaluates department staff. The Corporate Director prepares, presents and administers the department budget and serves as the AtlantiCare chief liaison with law enforcement and other related agencies.
Mr. Hunt is a twenty-seven-year veteran of the New Jersey State Police (Major-Ret.) where he was responsible for overseeing the organization’s Homeland Security strategy.
John served as the Deputy Director of the New Jersey’s Office of Emergency Management after being appointed by the Governor of the State of New Jersey.
He served as a member of New Jersey’s Domestic Preparedness Security Task Force Executive Committee. He directed the Continuity of Operation (COOP) initiative, development and planning for the State of New Jersey.
Upon gaining his Top Secret clearance, Mr. Hunt became a member of the National Fusion Focus Group. He was responsible for implementing training for Homeland Security Presidential Directive #5 regarding the National Response Plan and the National Incident Management System (NIMS) for all first responders throughout the state.
He was designated the Commanding Officer of Operation LEAD (Louisiana Emergency Assistance Development), New Jersey’s deployment of over six-hundred personnel from across the state to New Orleans.
Mr. Hunt led in the development of New Jersey’s new fusion center known as the Regional Operations Intelligence Center (ROIC- “The Rock”) where he also administered the implementation of New Jersey’s Statewide Intelligence Management System (SIMS).
John has national and international experience as a keynote speaker including presentations at the Weapons of Mass Destruction Exercise in Israel, the Global Terrorism symposium in Belgium and multiple presentations in Washington on terrorism and active shooter. He is called upon frequently to assist with preparing, training and exercising in Homeland Security solutions. For the past 9 years, John has provided presentations associated with hospital security including a focus on how best to prepare for and counter an active shooter event.
